Very flexible for all Baking needs, unlike one-piece ones! When baking pie’s it keeps the crust from getting to brown.I'll say first that I'm not returning it as I should have read the reviews more carefully. Now, here's why I hate it. The four pieces seem to have wide and narrow ends that will let you adjust the size, but for the life of me, I cannot make the pieces stay together. Even very carefully checking to see that the smaller end is fully engaged with the bigger end, they don't stay together at all. (The easy-to-open package, by the way, contains no directions or suggestions on how to make it stay together.)So, assembling it on the counter, it comes right apart when trying to put it on the pie plate. Assembling it directly on the pie plate itself, it falls apart when picking up the plate to put it in the oven.Caveat emptor.Note added: My wife pointed out that as I do not have full use of one hand, my review might be a bit harsh. P'raps, but I am not limited in the use of any other implement in my kitchen. In any case, she's going to try it on a pie I plan to make in a few days. We'll see.Note added much later: I hate to throw anything away so I kept it and we tried it one last time. Nope, still fell right off when we put the pie in the oven. Sigh. Finally tried it out last week, made a quiche. Packaging didn't specify exactly when to put the shield on the crust, so I put it on at the start, when the unfilled pie shell bakes and left it on when the filled pie shell was returned to the oven. Really impressed, the crimped edge was nicely browned, but not burnt, the shield stayed on better than aluminum foil strips, and egg mixture didn't adhere to the shield. The final product looked picture perfect. The silicon was extremely hot though, so placed on a trivet to cool prior to washing for storage. Hopefully, it will last for years.I just can’t recommend this four piece pie shield. The pieces are too narrow and do not cover enough of the crust edge. They are lightweight and fall off easily (they do not lock together) - either your hand or your pie is going to get burned, especially if you try and rotate your pie in the oven while cooking, etc. Every time I’ve used them, I’ve eventually just given up and used a piece of cut-up foil instead. On a positive note, the pieces do actually shield the small area that they cover from burning and I can throw them in the utensil tray of my dishwasher to clean. The pros are that it's easy to store since the shield is 4 separate pieces and that it's adjustable. The cons are it's a little difficult to keep the pie crust properly shielded because it is 4 separate pieces and the silicon gets hotter to the touch than I thought it would so the first time I used it I didn't realize I needed a potholder. Won't make that mistake again.I ordered this silicone pie shield because the old aluminum shields did not fit all of my pie plates. It also looked much easier to clean. I am quite pleased with the product. I was able to use it on all of the different sized pies that I made at Thanksgiving. The only drawback is the attachment for closing the ring. It does not hold the ring together as easily as I would like.Overall, I am very pleased and will be ordering more of these rings soon. S. DeCraneLike that it fits several size pie pansGiven as a gift. Good reviews from recipientOnly used it twice, and since it's been sitting around, it seems to have an oudour to it, amd a somewhat sticky feel to it. Yes I did wash this thoroughly before & after each use. Seems like it's leaching out something?Greatthey just are not good ar e all sorry i bought them waste of moneyDoes not fit my 9.5" pie plate Also find that the width could also be wider !
